Wegeler

  • 2000 Wegeler Riesling Geheimrat "J" Spätlese Trocken - Germany, Rheingau (11/2/2010)
Pleasing, subtle minerals on the nose. Plenty of ripeness on the palate, yet bone dry. Very good length. (87 points)
2008 Wegeler Riesling Geheimrat "J" Spätlese Trocken - Germany, Rheingau (11/2/2010)
This has gentle peach fruit and minerality on the nose. Vibrant, very fresh palate. Needs food. But it's good stuff. Very good length again - longer than the 2000. (87 points)

  • 2008 Wegeler Rüdesheimer Berg Rottland Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Rheingau (11/2/2010)
There's some subtlety to the nose on this one, but on the palate, it's really much more giving and opulent, though without any great weight of sweetness. Very good indeed. (90 points)

  • 2008 Wegeler Geisenheimer Rothenberg Riesling Auslese - Germany, Rheingau (11/2/2010)
A fairly gentle nose with little obvious characteristics. Very good palate - lovely stuff. Immediately attractive and with good poise and balance. (88 points)

  • 2007 Wegeler Rüdesheimer Berg Rottland Riesling Spätlese Goldkapsel - Germany, Rheingau (11/2/2010)
A fairly unremarkable nose. There's a lot of purity of fruit on the palate. It's very attractive, but unfortunately, overall, it doesn't really seem particularly special. (87 points)
